The mountainous Caribbean island of Saint Lucia is a popular tourist destination boasting its own volcano. One of the Windward Islands, it is located in the Lesser Antilles region. The first European settlers, the French, named it after the Syracuse Saint Lucy.
Saint Lucia is a member of the British Commonwealth as well as the UN, the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). These affiliations afford its citizens visa-free travel to 125 countries, from Singapore to the UK and all the member states of the Schengen Area.

The island state’s Citizen-by-Investment Program, launched in 2015 under the Citizen-by-Investment Act (No 14) and governed by the Citizenship-by-Investment Regulations (No 89), has strict due-diligence checks as part of its application process. Successful applicants and their families receive full citizenship. The main applicant must be 18 years and older.
Dependents include children aged 18–25 years who are full-time students enrolled at a recognized tertiary institution and fully financially supported by the main applicant; the parents of the main applicant or spouse if aged 65 years and older, living with and fully financially supported by the main applicant; and children or parents of the main applicant or spouse who are physically/mentally challenged and fully financially supported by the main applicant.

The Program is administered by the Citizenship-by-Investment Unit (CIU), which also processes applications, undertaking stringent due-diligence checks as part of its examination.
The process typically takes three to four months from submission of the application.
